In 1982 the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of the followers of Buddhism and Lamaism, visited Granada in October of that year accompanied by two lamas and eleven monks. He came to Granada to inaugurate the Buddhist center in La Alpujarra. Truly an exceptional guest of the Alhambra Palace Hotel.
In 2001 the british astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, known worldwide for his "theory of everything" among others, visited the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia, located in Granada. Recently, H.M. Queen Sofia, stayed again at the Alhambra Palace Hotel on the occasion of the extraordinary charity concert organized by the foundation that bears her name and held at the Palace of Charles V, located in the grounds of the Alhambra.

In June 1922, the cante jondo contest was presented in this theater.
It was a milestone, since it was the first recognition of flamenco as a cultured music. In it, the poet Federico Garcia Lorca recited for the first time the verses of the "Cante Jondo".
